Writing thrillers for readers of all ages

Enemy Within

A Man Framed, a Truth Buried, a Fight for Justice

One morning, Tom Whitehead wakes up a respected academic. By nightfall, he’s a national disgrace.

Raided by the police at dawn. Arrested in front of his wife and children. His work computer filled with child pornography. His credit card used to pay for it. The evidence is overwhelming – except Tom is innocent.

As the investigation unfolds, he learns this wasn’t a random search. He’s being watched, his emails monitored. His name surfaced in an international investigation run by the FBI and the UK’s National Criminal Intelligence Service. But why?

Desperate to clear his name, Tom turns to a hardened private investigator, Moran – a man who knows the system is rigged against the powerless. Together, they begin peeling back the layers of a conspiracy that reaches to the highest offices of power. But as they get closer to the truth, the real criminals start closing in.

Innocent men don’t run. But in a world where justice is an illusion, survival may be Tom’s only option.

Reviews for Enemy Within

“The what-if-this-happened-to-me factor raised the hairs on my arms.”

The Guardian, London

“Paul Adam delivers with this fast-paced and eminently believable tale.”

Crimetime

It’s a thought-provoking mystery and Adam’s cool, understated style gives it a disturbing air of plausibility. He’s a writer who deserves to be better known.

Sunday Telegraph

Paul Adam writes fiercely topical thrillers which deliver anxiety along with the excitement.

Literary Review

Fascinating book, it is so believable it’s frightening. The plot is very good, runs at a racy pace, and is well written.

Truly unputdownable, a real page-turner. If the “faceless ones” have the powers depicted in this book, this country is more frightening than I realized. BRILLIANT!

Amazon Customer Review

I made the mistake of picking up Enemy Within one Sunday morning recently just to see what it was like. I found it such a gripping read, that I sat down and read the whole book from cover to cover in one sitting! This is the first of Paul Adam’s books that I have read, and if they are all of this high quality, then I can’t wait to sample the others!
It is clear that Paul Adam researches his subject thoroughly. His writing is tight, crisp and punchy, and any reader will find himself or herself being completely consumed by it and dragged along at quite a pace. He does not waste words or use words where they are not needed.
